Strong commitment

Where we are already successfully implementing sustainability

Climate protection and energy

Energy
We rely on renewable energy both at our Schönenwerd site and at Ehret GmbH. Solar installations on our company roofs already cover around 30% of our energy requirements.

EPDs and other certifications
We obtain Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and other sustainability certifications for our core products. This ensures that environmental impacts are transparent across the entire product lifecycle.

Energy and environmental management
We operate certified environmental and energy management systems (e.g. in accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001), methodically improving our energy efficiency and carbon footprint across production and logistics. Our ISO certificates.

Electric mobility
To reduce emissions and noise, we are increasingly using electrically powered vehicles and industrial trucks for servicing, installations, and internal transport.

Heat pumps and LEDs
We are phasing out fossil-fuel heating systems in our buildings with heat pumps, and systematically converting our lighting to efficient LED technology. This is significantly lowering our energy consumption.

Resource efficiency and the circular economy

Packaging
Wherever possible, we rely on reusable packaging and returnable transit packaging to reduce packaging waste. For transporting specific components, we have replaced plastic wrapping film with reusable textile bags that can be used over multiple cycles. These textile bags are inspected regularly and used for as long as quality and safety can be guaranteed.

Waste
At our project sites, we methodically track products and packaging, ensuring a large proportion is sorted by material type for recycling. Where local waste disposal infrastructure permits, packaging and metal parts are collected separately and predominantly fed back into the recycling loop. Together with our waste management partners, we are working to continuously increase the proportion of recycled materials at project sites.

Recycling
Our VR 90 slat blinds already contain 36% recycled aluminium. We plan to increase this to 90% by 2035, if possible, depending on the quality, availability, and certification of the materials.
At our production sites, we run our own collection and sorting areas for manufacturing waste. This waste is recorded separately and prepared for recycling.

Durability
Right from the product development stage, we focus on repairability to ensure long-term operation and resource efficiency.
Our Service department repairs faulty or damaged blinds. A Service subscription can extend the service life of a blind.

Employee development and corporate culture

Sustainability teams
Group-wide, our interdisciplinary sustainability teams oversee the implementation of ESG* requirements. They monitor key performance indicators, initiate improvement projects, and put the group-wide sustainability strategy into practice.
* Environment, Social & Governance

Sustainability training
Through targeted leadership programmes, we strengthen our management capabilities in areas such as responsible corporate governance, occupational health and safety, and sustainability training. For example, we run regular courses on economic and ecological driving techniques.

Values
Our corporate values emphasise long-term thinking, responsibility for the environment and society, as well as the development of young people, guiding our decisions across development, production, and collaboration.

Social responsibility
Schenker Storen AG has been certified by the VEBO cooperative as part of the Swiss "Social Responsibility" programme. "Social Responsibility" represents products and services manufactured and provided by people with disabilities.
At Schenker Storen, we combine innovation with tradition. This is why we have been actively involved in Swiss wrestling for many years – a sport that embodies down-to-earth values, endurance and genuine passion. These values also shape our company. Find out more here.
