Eye-catching sun terrace

A place to sunbathe, enjoy yourself and relax. Guests love to use the hotel’s outside area – all the more reason for it to be properly protected against the effects of the weather. This way they can serve guests who wish to sit outside at all times of the year. To do so successfully requires one essential ingredient: a high-quality and especially resilient form of sun and weather protection that optimally shields against the unwanted effects of too much sun, strong winds and rain. The latter can be used to extend the use of the terrace by a few more weeks.

Individual, stylish and robust

Endless hiking trails, amazing bike trails and virtually untouched countryside: The breathtaking mountainscape of Obergoms offers numerous leisure activities for both young and old alike. Nestled right at its heart, in Ulrichen, is the Hotel Walser. It has undergone a complete overhaul, including the redesign of its outdoor area for approx. 80 guests. Schenker Storen provided the much-needed weatherproof shading system with its stylish folding pergola (FP 7) customised to the needs of the project.

In addition to shading the large area with three modules coupled seamlessly together, various other factors had to be taken into account concerning functionality and aesthetics. For example, the colour scheme had to ensure the tone of the new terrace canopy matched that of the facade’s sun bleached larch. The grey aluminium (RAL 9007) selected for the frame and the sand-coloured fabric (Canapa 502V2-50265C) pulled this off beautifully. A further key requirement was for guests to be able to remain outside in comfort, even if it started to rain or the wind picked up – which is no problem at all for the wind, rain and sun-resistant folding pergola The individual cross bars to which the fabric panels are connected, ensure the roof is curved so the rain and dirt are channelled into the drainage system built into the sides. Since Obergoms witnesses some heavy snowfall from time to time in the winter, Schenker Storen worked closely with a local metalworker to create a robust structure for the cover that prevents the retractable roof pergola from collapsing under the weight of the snow. The Hotel Walser now invites its guests to enjoy the great outdoors a little while longer thanks to the welcoming atmosphere created by its new, elegant pergolas.
